Ceroc Social Dance South Africa

• no partner is required
• but you are welcome to come with a partner or friend
• we rotate partners during class
• all Group classes are rotational
• If you have a partner and do not wish to rotate it is preferable to book a private class

• our dress code is "smart casual"
• you will warm up during class, especially in the summer
• wear shoes you can do a spin in
• avoid spiked heels and tight clothing 

• you can start any time!
• at beginner level we teach a new routine each time
• others in the class are very supportive of new people joining
• your teacher will keep an eye out for you
• call us if you have any reservations or questions 

• we start with a gentle warm-up
• you then partner up
• we talk you through one 'move' at a time
• later we put some music on
• generally you learn four moves in a beginner class 

• You do not need any dance experience!
• our classes are designed for those with two left feet
• the teacher is trained to assess how the material is being absorbed and respond accordingly
• if you have dance experience please try a beginner class first and discuss with your teacher      

• freestyle is dancing 'off the cuff'
• the man is leading the woman through a series of 'moves' at random
• you are invited to our freestyle and party nights nationwide

• Facebook groups are Brooklyn Makiti Dans and Ceroc Dance South Africa these groups will give you up to date info on Dance Nights

• 'Makiti' is Afrikaans for a small get together ( However the Brooklyn Makiti Dans has between 300 to 400 attending  monthly)
• Bring your own Pizza and drink
• R55 at the venue door and come and Dance the night away
• You do not have to be a Ceroc member.  This is open to the everyone.

• please attend eight beginner classes first
• you must master timing, cross pressure, lead / follow and for the girls, spins
• ask your teacher about getting an assessment
• to enter advanced classes you must be a confident freestyler, master double-speed spins and some drops 

• the floor is for dancing, walk around the edge of the dance floor rather than trying to thread your way through the dancers
• take off sharp rings, bracelets, hair pieces and keep your nails short
• if you are sharing, learning or practicing new moves, do it off to the side of the dance floor
• if the dance floor is crowded, do not take up excessive space or travel from area to area, look around and behind you so you don't crash into others
• do not drink and dance, if you have had too much to drive, you've had too much to dance
• make sure your breath is fresh and use a deodorant
• manage your wellbeing; drink plenty of liquids at long sessions, wear suitable shoes and check out our first aid kit for minor injuries 

Yes!  There is Privates lessons available at all our Ceroc Branches.  You can just contact the Head Office at 073 209 9687, or any of the numbers appearing under the specific venue that you are interested in.

Taking out a membership at any  Branch means that you are entitled to dance all the classes at that specific club.  

It gives you 8 nights of dancing a month, thats 16 hours.

You can bring friends for their first class.

You get R20 off at every Makiti Dance!

You pay monthly by debitorder or discounted full cash payment up front with R250 once-off registration fee.

No. Ceroc.com  is an extension of the UK Ceroc Dance Network.  We are not affilated.  Ceroc Dance South Africa is independantly owned and trade marked in South Africa since 2005.  We are associated with Ceroc NZ and Ceroc Modern Jive Australia.  And we have dance instructors from NZ, Australia the UK and Finland visit us every year .  Keep your eyes open for the workshops.
